Pope John Paul II on the de Montfort Consecration

Pope John Paul II said that, "Reading this book (St. Louis de Montfort's True Devotion to Mary) was to be a turning point in my life.... This Marian devotion...has since remained a part of me. It is an integral part of my interior life and of my spiritual theology." In his Marian Year encyclical, Mother of the Redeemer, speaking of Marian Spirituality, the Holy Father singles out: "...among the many witnesses of this spirituality, the figure of Saint Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort, who proposes consecration to Christ through the hands of Mary, as an effective means for Christians to live faithfaully their baptismal commitments." (No. 48)

Explanatory Note......

The difference between LATRIA and DULIA is EVERYTHING in a correct understanding of the Church's Teaching on Mary. LATRIA refers to "worship" - as in "Adoration" which is offered to the Blessed Trinity alone. "DULIA" in SHARP contrast, is MERE Veneration - this is NOT equal to adoration in ANY manner or respect whatsoever. The Catholic Church offers the Blessed Mother "Hyperdulia" - the greatest of homage, respect and veneration offered one in all of creation. And, for the record, there is NOTHING Anti-Scriptural or Biblical about this. The OT alone is Replete with Mediation and Intercessory activity of the servants of God .....Moses, King David, Jeremiah, etc. In fact, a decent study of just about any of the OT prophets will offer a plenitude of examples of human "MEDIATION" between God and His People. In many instances, the main job of the Prophet IS TO MEDIATE (be the "go-between" or the "Middle-Man") between God and His people on earth. So, any arguments in reference to Christ as being the "Sole" and ONLY Mediator between God and humanity is actually VERY contrary scripture. Just to clarify a little on Pope John Paul II's authentic devotion to Mary and what this REALLY is.
